Broncos-Chargers and Week 17 Picks

The Broncos are 7-8 and have less than a 1% chance of making the playoffs, and they head to LA to take on the Chargers. Denver got hit hard with Covid this week, and they will be without Tim Patrick, Bobby Massie, Calvin Anderson, Bryce Callahan, and Caden Sterns. Not having both Right Tackles is not going to be ideal facing a Chargers team that is getting a boatload of their players back from the Covid list this week. The bottom line is that the Chargers need to win this game to keep their legitimate playoff hopes alive, and the Broncos are basically just playing out the string. This one will be tough to watch...

Prediction: CHARGERS (-5) over DENVER

Final Score: Chargers-30 Broncos-13

Now, onto the picks for Week 17.....

Last Week's Record: 10-6-0

Overall Record: : 122-107-9

(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)

BUFFALO (-13) over Atlanta: Buffalo is 9-6 and can win the AFC East if it takes care of business in the last two games. They won't mess around with the 7-8 Falcons and they will win rather easily.

CHICAGO (-5) over Giants: The 5-10 Bears host the 4-11 Giants in a game in which two proud NFL franchises are having a rough year. Look for the Bears to outlast the Giants at home.

Kansas City (-5) over CINCINNATI: This is a huge game in the AFC and it will be interesting to see how the Bengals will be able to matchup with the Chiefs. KC has the #1 seed in the AFC in their sights, and I think they will find a way to take out the Bengals.

TENNESSEE (-2) over Miami: Miami is 8-7 after a 1-7 start, but they have had a very soft and favorable schedule to get to that point. Now, they head to Tennessee to take on the 10-5 Titans. I think this will be a close game, but I think the Titans will put the game away late.

Las Vegas (+6.5) over INDIANAPOLIS: The 9-6 Colts might be without Carson Wentz due to Covid protocols. The Raiders are 8-7 and are still in the playoff hunt. This is a very huge game in the AFC playoff picture. Las Vegas is a very tricky team to pick each week, and I'm not sure that they will win the game outright, but I think taking the points with them is a solid pick.

NEW ENGLAND (-14) over Jacksonville: The Pats are 9-6 after losing two in a row. Now, they host the hapless Jaguars, and they will do what they have to do to win this game and get to 10 wins.

Tampa Bay (-12) over JETS: The Bucs are 11-4 and still fighting for the #1 seed in the NFC. I think they will easily roll past the 4-11 Jets in the Meadowlands this week.

WASHINGTON (+4) over Philadelphia: The Eagles are 8-7 and on track to get the #7 seed in the NFC. They can still make the playoffs if they lose this week, and I think this will be a tough game. Washington is 6-9 and most likely not going to make the playoffs, but they will play hard at home against their division rival.

Rams (-3) over BALTIMORE: It is unclear if Lamar Jackson will play, but Tyler Huntley will give them a good chance to win if he starts at QB. The Rams are 11-4 and can possibly win the NFC West. This is a tough game to pick, but I'm going with the Rams on the road.

Houston (+14) over SAN FRANCISCO: Jimmy G might be out with a thumb injury, so Trey Lance might get the start. The Texans are a 4-11 but they have been feisty the last few weeks. I think the 49ers will find a way to win, but I think the Texans will cover.

DALLAS (-5) over Arizona: The Cardinals are 10-5 and free-falling in the NFC West at this point, They clinched a playoff spot, but they are in danger of losing the division. The Cowboys are 11-4, winners of the NFC East, and looking for a high seed. I like what I see out of the Cowboys, and I don't like what I see from the Cards. I think Dallas will win by a touchdown.

Carolina (+7) over NEW ORLEANS: The Panthers are 5-10 and playing out the string. The Saints are 7-8 and still have a chance at the playoffs. I think they will take care of business at home this week.

SEATTLE (-7) over Detroit: Seattle is 5-10 and out of the playoffs. The Lions are 2-12-1, but they are still playing hard. I would think that Seattle will beat up on the Lions at home in this spot.

GREEN BAY (-6) over Minnesota: The Packers are 12-3 and in line for the #1 seed in the NFC. The Vikings are 7-8 and hanging on to slim playoff hopes. I could see them playing GB tough in Lambeau, but I think the Packers will smell the blood in the water with the bye in the NFC and take down the Vikings on Sunday Night Football.

PITTSBURGH (+4) over Cleveland: Huge game in the AFC on Monday Night Football. It leaked out that Big Ben is going to retire after this season, and I think he will win in what might be his final game at Heinz Field.

Broncos Lose to Raiders, Fall to 7-8

The Broncos traveled to Las Vegas to take on the Raiders in a battle of 7-7 teams still hanging on to a playoff spot in the AFC. The Raiders outlasted the Broncos 17-13, and the Broncos are now 7-8 with a less than 1% chance to making the playoffs-which means it's pretty much over for the 2021 Denver Broncos. For the second straight week, the Broncos were in the game late, but their offense wasn't good enough to get them over the hump. It was another disappointing loss and it effectively ended the Broncos season. Here are my thoughts on the game....

1) The Broncos offense could not do anything against the Raiders defense. They could not run the ball at all, they couldn't protect Drew Lock, they were not good on third downs, and they made too many mistakes (penalties, dropped balls, poor execution). The play calling by Pat Shurmur wasn't good again, and I think they were afraid of Drew Lock making a mistake to be really aggressive. Their only TD was on a 1 yard run by Javonte Williams after a Bradley Chubb interception and return to the Raiders 1 yard line.

2) The Broncos defense did hold the Raiders to 17 points, but they got run all over by the Raiders rushing attack. The Raiders started the second half by running the ball down the Broncos throats, and gave them a 14-13 lead. Then, with the game on the line and the Raiders facing a 3rd down right before the two-minute warning, Denver's defense gave up a first down on a pass and that ended the game. The Broncos defense played well at times and forced three turnovers, but couldn't get the stop when they needed it.

3) The Broncos forced three turnovers, committed none, and still lost. Just incredible

4) Denver got swept by the Raiders this season, and both losses were to interim head coach Rich Bisaccia, who took over for Jon Gruden after he was fired for emails in October. That just makes this even worse. They have lost four in a row to the Raiders.

5) Drew Lock was not great, but he wasn't the reason why the Broncos lost this game either. He didn't turn the ball over, and he didn't get any help from his receivers or offensive line. Lock is a backup at this point, and clearly not the guy in Denver going forward.

6) The Broncos are 7-8 and head to LA to take on the Chargers next week. It will take a miracle for the Broncos to make the playoffs-even if they win this week and in Week 18.

Broncos-Raiders and Week 16 Quick Picks

The Broncos are 7-7 and head to Las Vegas to take on the 7-7 Raiders. Denver needs a win to keep their faint playoff hopes alive. Teddy Bridgewater will most likely be out due to the scary concussion he had last week against Cincy. That means that Drew Lock starts at QB with the Broncos season on the line. Lock had some really nice throws last week, but he also had some misses and a very costly fumble near the goal line that cost Denver the game. It is hard to think that Lock will come in and win this game on the road against the Raiders. The confidence is just not there at this point. I feel like he will make a mistake or two, and I expect Derek Carr and the Raiders to cruise to an easy victory at home.

Prediction: LAS VEGAS (-1) over Denver

Final Score: Raiders-30 Broncos-16

Broncos Fall to Bengals-Playoff Hopes All But Dashed

The Broncos had their biggest game in years at home on Sunday to the Bengals and they came out on the wrong end in a disappointing 15-10 loss. The Broncos are now 7-7, and only have a 5% chance at making the playoffs this year with three games to go. It was a very disappointing and frustrating game-especially from an offensive standpoint, and it will be a game that the Broncos will be thinking about all offseason because it was a game that they could have won. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out that way. Here are my thoughts on the game.....

1) The Broncos offense was not good at all this game. I thought the play-calling was suspect, Teddy Bridgewater didn't play well, the receivers weren't good enough, and the offensive line didn't hold up their end as well. The offense lost this game for the Broncos.

2) The Broncos defense played a great game except for one big play. The touchdown pass from Joe Burrow to Tyler Boyd was the big play that gave Cincy the lead at 15-10 after Denver took a 10-9 lead late in the third quarter. You can't fault the defense. If you give up 15 points at home, you should win the game.

3) The sequence of events at the end of the half was killer. The Broncos used up most of the clock and were looking for a field goal at the end of the half to take a 6-3 lead, and they were getting the ball to start the second half, so maybe they could have doubled up the points there. Instead, on third down, Bridgewater throws a bad incomplete pass to Javonte Williams and they settle for the long field goal, which Brandon McManus misses. Then, Cincy converts a pass play and gets a 58 yard field goal at the end of the half to take a 6-3 lead instead of Denver being up 6-3.

4) The big moment came when after Teddy Bridgewater got knocked out of the game with a concussion and Drew Lock stepped in. He threw a TD pass to Tim Patrick on that drive to give Denver a 10-9 lead. After falling behind 15-10, Lock made some really nice throws and with the combination of Williams and Melvin Gordon, Denver drove down to the Cincy 10 for a first and goal. On 2nd and goal, Lock kept the ball on a zone read run play, and he got stripped by the Bengals defender and Cincy had the ball. It was a huge play and cost the Broncos the game.

5) Lock continues to turn the ball over-even in the limited action he has seen this year. That is the story of his career. He makes some great throws, then fumbles inside the 10 yard line, and then throws a little too high for Courtland Sutton on a key third down play late in the 4th quarter. That is Drew Lock in a nutshell. At this point, it looks like he is heading for a career as a backup and his future is probably not in Denver as well.

6) This game was a winnable game and the defense gave the offense every chance to win this game, but like the KC game was a few weeks ago, the offense was just too bad and the QB play killed us in the end. That has been the story for the Broncos for about six years. This team is not good enough to win the game on offense if they have any mistakes and they have no margin of error. Fans are going to complain about Fangio's clock management and decision making at the end of the half, but I don't think that was an issue. The issue was execution and making a freaking FG at the end. They didn't do it and it cost the Broncos.

7) There will be a lot said about what the Broncos do for next year, but that is for when the season over. Right now, the Broncos are 7-7 and technically not out of the Wild Card race. I don't think they are making the playoffs, but since they are still somehow alive, their game Sunday at Las Vegas against the Raiders has meaning. Teddy Bridgewater will most likely be out with a concussion that he suffered in the game on Sunday, so that means that it will be Drew Lock with the season officially on the line against the 7-7 Raiders in Vegas on Sunday.

Broncos-Bengals and Week 15 Picks

Sunday's game in Denver is the biggest game of the season for the Broncos, and the biggest game they have played since 2016. Win this game, and they certainly help themselves in the race to get a playoff spot in the AFC. Lose this game, and it will be very difficult for them the rest of the way. This is going to be a tough game. I know Denver's defense has played well the last month, but it will be a test to stop Joe Burrow, Joe Mixon, and Jamar Chase. The Broncos are a little banged up in their front seven, and that worries me in this particular game. I also don't know if the Broncos offense can move the ball effectively enough on this Bengals defense. Teddy Bridgewater is going to have to play lights out in the passing game for the Broncos to have a chance. The home crowd and fans in Denver have to bring it on Sunday. They have to be loud and at a fever pitch to do anything they can to help the Broncos. They need to treat this like a playoff game. Bring back the Mile High Magic and homefield noise. It will be a tough game for the Broncos, and I just have a feeling that they will fall short.

Prediction: Cincinnati (+1) over DENVER

Final Score: Benglas-27 Broncos-17

Now, onto the picks for Week 15....

Last Week's Record: 10-4-0

Overall Record: : 103-94-9

(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)

Las Vegas (+6) over CLEVELAND: This game takes place on Saturday afternoon as part of a special Saturday doubleheader. The Browns have major Covid issues as they try to make the push for the playoffs. At 7-6, they can't afford a loss here. The Raiders are 6-7 and hanging on for dear life. I'll take the Raiders and the points with all the Covid concerns that the Browns are dealing with.

INDIANAPOLIS (-2) over New England: This is a great game on Saturday night. The 7-6 Colts are right in the mix for the playoffs in the AFC. The Pats come in winners of seven straight games and a 9-4 record. I think the Pats winning streak ends here in Indy.

PHILADELPHIA (-4) over Washington: At 6-7, both teams are in the NFC Wild Card mix, and this game might be an elimination game for the loser. I think the Eagles are a tad better at this point, so I'll take them at home.

Carolina (+11) over BUFFALO: The Bills are 7-6 and fighting for a spot as a Wild Card at this moment. Josh Allen is banged up, but he should play this week. I think the Bills win but look for Carolina to cover.

Jets (+8) over MIAMI:  The Dolphins are 6-7 after starting 1-7, and now they host the 3-10 Jets. Look for Miami to continue their winning ways and get to 7-7, but I think this number is too high. I could see the Jets somehow keeping it close.

GIANTS (+9) over Dallas: The Cowboys are in control of the NFC East at 9-4, and they head to the Meadowlands to take on the 4-9 Giants. I can't see Dallas screwing this up-especially since the Giants will be without QB Daniel Jones once again, but I think the Giants get the backdoor cover.

PITTSBURGH (+2) over Tennessee: At 6-6-1, the Steelers desperately need this game to stay in the playoff race. Tennessee is in good shape in the AFC South at 9-4, so I will go with the more desperate team in Pittsburgh to win this game.

JACKSONVILLE (-3) over Houston: Both teams are 2-11 and no one cares about this game. Urban Meyer got fired this week in Jacksonville and he didn't even finish the season in his first year as a head coach in the NFL. I feel like the Jags players will respond and play well with Meyer gone.

DETROIT (+14) over Arizona: The 1-11-1 Lions will play better than they did last week, and Arizona needs to get back on track in the NFC after losing last week at home to the Rams. I think Arizona wins, but I could see the Lions covering.

Atlanta (+9) over SAN FRANCISCO: The 49ers are 7-6 and are securing their spot in the NFC playoffs. The Falcons are 6-7 and not out of it yet. This is a big game for both teams. The Niners will win the game, but look for Atlanta to cover the spread.

Green Bay (-4) over BALTIMORE: The Ravens are 8-5 and stumbling a little bit. Lamar Jackson got banged up in the loss to the Browns last week. He might not play in this game. Look for the Packers and Aaron Rodgers to go into Baltimore and rip apart the Ravens defense.

Seattle (+6) over RAMS: The Seahawks are 5-8 and have slim playoff hopes, but they are still alive. The Rams looked great in their big win over the Cardinals last Monday night, but are dealing with major Covid issues all along their roster. I think the Rams will find a way to win the game, but it will be close.

TAMPA BAY (-10) over New Orleans: The Saints are 6-7 and still have a chance of a playoff spot in the NFC. Tampa Bay is cruising to the division title and a possible #1 seed in the NFC. There's no way the Bucs will blow this game at home on Sunday Night Football.

Minnesota (-3) over CHICAGO:  At 6-7, the Vikings are still in the mix for the last seed in the NFC playoffs. The Bears are 4-9 and looking ahead to next year. I think Minnesota will win the game, but every week they play close games. Can they actually cover a three point spread as a favorite?

 Kansas City (-2) over CHARGERS

Broncos Manhandle Lions, Improve to 7-6

The Broncos took care of business on Sunday with a convincing 38-10 rout of the Detroit Lions in Denver. The Broncos took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and blew the game open in the 3rd quarter to pull away with the easy victory. The win puts Denver at 7-6 with four games to go, and a chance to make a run for a wild card spot in the AFC. Here are my thoughts on the game.....

1) The two-headed rushing attack for Denver continues to be a strong point for this offense. Melvin Gordon had 111 yards and two touchdowns, and Javonte Williams had 73 yards and 1 rushing TD. He also added a receiving TD as well. Both players had big games and big holes to run through all game long. It was another big performance by the rushing game, and if Denver can continue to do that, they will be in every game down the stretch.

2) Teddy Bridgewater was efficient enough and threw 2 TD passes to help guide the offense. He didn't really have to do much, and if the running game is working that well for Denver, then why even worry about throwing the ball that much.

3) The defense was solid once again. DreMont Jones had a huge game with 2 sacks. Shelby Harris had a big game as well, and Justin Simmons added a diving interception. This defense has really played well the last month. If it can continue to do that, then it will make Denver a very tough team to beat the last month of the season.

4) The Broncos did what they had to do. They controlled the line of scrimmage on offense and ran the ball at will against the Lions. Detroit had a combination of injuries and Covid related issues that hampered their team, and Denver was able to take advantage. After grabbing a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, the Lions came back to make it 14-10, but a late field goal before the half put Denver up 17-10. A Lions fumble on the first drive of the third quarter gave the Broncos the ball in good field position and a TD pass from Bridgewater to Williams made it 24-10 and put the game away. The Broncos did what they had to do. It would be great if we played the Lions every week.

5) A special moment started the game. The Broncos took the field for their first offensive play with only 10 players, and WR Courtland Sutton stayed on the sideline. This was done as a tribute to former WR Demaryius Thomas, who passed away on Thursday. The Broncos were given a penalty, but the Lions declined the penalty, and Sutton jogged onto the field for the first play. It was a really nice tribute and nice moment to remember Thomas. The chants of "DT" throughout the stadium gave me chills. The Broncos did a great job paying respects to DT throughout the weekend and during the game.

6) Denver's win gives them a 7-6 record and they are in the playoff chase in the AFC. It is nice to have meaningful games in December once again. This week they host the 7-6 Bengals in a huge, huge game. This game is basically a playoff game, and hopefully the Broncos can come out on top and get to 8-6.

Demaryius Thomas, Broncos-Lions, and Week 14 Picks

Before I get to the Broncos-Lions game and Week 14 picks, sad news came out late Thursday night. Former Bronco WR Demaryius Thomas passed away at the age of 33 on Thursday in his home in Georgia. The news obviously shocked the NFL world, but it really hits home for the Broncos and their fans. DT was one of the best receivers in Broncos history, and he was one of my favorite Broncos of all time. He was a main piece of the four-year run the Broncos had with Peyton Manning, and he had so many great catches and games with Manning throwing him the ball in that offense. He is also famous for another great moment in Broncos history: The touchdown catch from Tim Tebow on the first play of overtime to beat the Steelers in the AFC Wild Card game in 2011. That is one of the best plays in Broncos history and it is a play that I think I rewatch every few months because it was such an amazing moment. The other aspect of this is how good of a person Thomas was off the field. Every player, coach, and organizational member loved DT, and he was a good person outside of football. It is a very sad day as a Broncos fan to hear about the passing of DT at the age of 33. RIP Demaryius Thomas.....

The Broncos host the Lions this week in a very important game. Denver is 6-6, but they are right there in the AFC Wild Card race. A win here is a must-especially over a Lions team that comes in win only one win this season. As much as you have to like Denver here, this will not be an easy game. The Lions have been in a lot of close games this year, and have lost a bunch of heartbreakers. The Broncos offense is not going to be good enough just to blow them out. Look for a a close game throughout.

Prediction: Detroit (+8) over DENVER

Final Score: Lions-20 Broncos-19

Now, onto the picks for Week 14....

Last Week's Record: 7-6-0

Overall Record: : 93-90-9

(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)

Las Vegas (+10) over KANSAS CITY: The Chiefs are 8-4, have won five straight, and sit atop the AFC West. The Raiders are 6-6 after a close loss to Washington. Look for the Chiefs to win the game, but I think the Raiders will keep it closer than expected.

New Orleans (-5) over JETS: The Saints are in a free fall and at 5-7 are clinging to their playoff hopes. They get to go to Metlife Stadium this week to take on the Jets, who are 3-9. I think this is the week the Saints break their losing streak.

TENNESSEE (-8) over Jacksonville: The Titans are 8-4 and still in first place in the AFC South. They need a win here, and I think they will get it easily over the 2-10 Jaguars.

Baltimore (+3) over CLEVELAND: I still don't get why Cleveland is favored here. The Browns are 6-6, but Baker Mayfield is still banged up. The Ravens come into this game after a tough loss to Pittsburgh, and at 8-4, they still lead the division. I think Baltimore will get back on track this week and get the win on the road.

Atlanta (+3) over CAROLINA: Both teams are 5-7, so the loser of this game is probably out in the NFC playoff race. I haven't liked what I have seen out of both of these teams the last few weeks. For some reason, my gut tells me the Falcons will get the win here.

WASHINGTON (+4) over Dallas: The Cowboys lead the NFC East with an 8-4 record, but Washington has won four in a row and now stand at 6-6 with a chance at the playoffs. This suddenly has become a big game in the NFC. I like Washington to keep this game close.

Seattle (-6) over HOUSTON: The Seahawks are 4-8, but they are coming off a home win over SF last week, and they should make easy work of Houston this week.

CHARGERS (-9) over Giants: The Chargers are 7-5, and they had a huge road win over the Bengals last week. Now, they host the 4-8 Giants, and look for LA to take care of business over the G-Men.

CINCINNATI (+1) over San Francisco: This is a huge game for both teams. The Niners are 6-6, and the Bengals are 7-5. Both teams need this game to help their playoff bid. I like the Bengals at home to rebound after their tough loss at home last week to the Chargers.

TAMPA BAY (-3) over Buffalo: If this line was a little higher, I would have taken the Bills, but I'm fine laying the three points. Look for the Bucs to do enough to handle the Bills.

GREEN BAY (-11) over Chicago: The Packers are 9-3 and cruising to another division title, and the Bears are 4-8 and looking ahead to next season. I think the Pack will roll on SNF.

Rams (+3) over ARIZONA: The Cardinals are 10-2 and looking for the #1 seed in the NFC. The Rams are 8-4 and looking to solidify a playoff spot. I think the Rams will come out and play their best game of the season here in this spot. I think the Rams pull the upset on Monday Night Football.

Chiefs Beat Broncos 22-9, Denver Falls to 6-6

The Broncos lost to Kansas City 22-9 on Sunday night in Arrowhead Stadium. Denver fell to 6-6. They are still in the hunt in the AFC playoff race, but they missed on an opportunity to beat the Chiefs and really cement a spot. Here are my thoughts on the game....

1) Teddy Bridgewater did not play well at all. I think it was his worst game of the season. He threw two interceptions in the second half and one was returned for a touchdown to seal the game for KC. He just wasn't good enough in this game and it cost the Broncos, and he never got the ball to Tim Patrick and Courtland Sutton.

2) I think that Pat Shurmur actually called a decent game on offense, and Javonte Williams had a really good game. They weren't the reason why this team lost.

3) The defense played really well. They held Patrick Mahomes to his second worst QB rating of his career. They held Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill in check. They only gave up 16 points to the Chiefs, and yet they still lost. Give Vic Fangio credit for getting this defense to play well once again against Mahomes and the Chiefs.

4) I had no problem with Fangio going for it on 4th down as much as he did in the game. You need to score points and you need touchdowns to beat KC in Arrowhead, and I understand his mentality in that regard.

5) It was pretty demoralizing when Denver went on a 20 play drive that took up most of the second quarter down 10-3 and came away with no points after a missed 4th and 2 play. That was pretty much the game right there for me.

6) The Broncos are now 6-6 and host the Lions this week and host the Bengals next week. They will need to hold serve at home the next two games to have a shot at the playoffs. They need to start by getting the win over the Lions next week at home and go from there.

Broncos-Chiefs and Week 13 Picks

The Broncos have a tall task in heading to Arrowhead to take on the Chiefs on Sunday night. At least Denver is 6-5 and playing a meaningful game in December. With that said, the Chiefs have been playing a lot better the last four games and at 7-4, they are ready to make their run and take the division. I just can't see Denver hanging with the Chiefs offense throughout this game. This just feels like too much Pat Mahomes and KC.

Prediction: KANSAS CITY (-10) over Denver

Final Score: Chiefs- 34 Broncos-17

Now, onto the picks for Week 13....

Last Week's Record: 7-8-0

Overall Record: : 86-84-9

(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)

Minnesota (-7) over DETROIT: The Vikings always play close games, but I think they will take care of business in Detroit this week.

CHICAGO (+8) over Arizona: I think the Cardinals will win the game, but look for the Bears to keep it close at home.

Tampa Bay (-10) over ATLANTA: Tom Brady and the Bucs won't mess around here and will take out the Falcons easily.

Indianapolis (-9) over HOUSTON: I think the Colts will rebound from last week's loss to the Bucs and take care of their business over the Texans.

JETS (+6) over Philadelphia: I think the Eagles will win but look for the Jets to play hard and keep it close.

CINCINNATI (-3) over Chargers: Tough game to call. I liked the Chargers all week, but I think I'm going with the Bengals and a statement win at home.

MIAMI (-3) over Giants: Daniel Jones might not play for the Giants and I can't trust Mike Glennon at QB for the G Men.

LAS VEGAS (-2) over Washington: The Raiders had an impressive win over the Cowboys on Thanksgiving, and I think they will beat up on Washington at home this week.

Baltimore (-3) over PITTSBURGH: I originally picked the Steelers to win the game, but they have some Covid and injury issues, so I'm taking Baltimore.

RAMS (-13) over Jacksonville: The Rams will right the ship with an easy home win over the Jaguars.

SEATTLE (+4) over San Francisco: The 49ers are dealing with injury issues and I just have a feeling that Seattle will find a way to pull off the upset.

BUFFALO (-3) over New England: This is the game of the week and might be one of the best games of the year so far. Monday Night Football features the Bills and Patriots battling for first place in the AFC East. I like the Bills at home to find a way to knock off the Pats,

Broncos Take Down Chargers, Improve to 6-5

The Broncos entered Sunday's home game against the 6-4 Chargers as an underdog, but they left with a victory and a 6-5 record as they head into December. The Broncos controlled the Chargers 28-13 to record their sixth victory, put them back above .500, and have a chance to make a run at the playoffs down the stretch of the season. Here are my thoughts on the game....

1) The Broncos defense was the story in this game. They played very well. They got a pass rush consistently on Justin Herbert and registered three sacks, countless hurries, and two big interceptions. I thought Baron Browning played really well and was all over the field.

2) Patrick Surtain II continues to look like a stud first round pick for Denver. He intercepted Herbert  in the end zone with the Broncos up 14-7 in the fourth quarter, and he later added a 70 interception return TD later in the quarter to put the game away for good. Surtain has played really well this season, and this was his signature game.

3) The Broncos offense was okay for the time that Teddy Bridgewater was in at QB. They were up 7-0 and moving the ball when Bridgewater was blindsided by Derwin James and suffered a bruised leg that made him miss a few series. Drew Lock came in a led a scoring drive which was aided by the run game to make it 14-0. Denver was controlling the game until Lock threw a terrible interception right before the half. LA capitalized to make it 14-7. The Broncos had really dominated up until that point. After only running three plays in the third quarter, Bridgewater led the Broncos on a drive when they needed it most. Up 14-7 in the 4th quarter, Denver moved the ball right down the field and they put it into the endzone with a Bridgewater to Eric Saubert TD pass to make it 21-7. You can say what you want about Bridgewater, but he is the best option for this team at QB, and he has been the best option for this team at QB since Peyton Manning retired.

4) Give Vic Fangio credit. He has his team ready. The defense played way better this week than they did two weeks ago in the loss to the Eagles. When Bridgewater was in at QB, the offense moved the ball consistently, and the running attack was once again headed by both Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams, who continues to impress. Denver controlled most of the game and dominated it in most facets. This was a very solid win.

5) The Broncos are 6-5 and heading to KC next week to play the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. This is exactly what you want: Meaningful football games in December. Consider this: Last year at this time, Denver was coming off that loss to New Orleans when Kendall Hinton had to start at QB after all of the QBs were out due to Covid protocols. At 4-7, the season was basically over. It will be a tall order to go into Arrowhead and knock off the Chiefs, but it will be fun to get excited about the Broncos biggest December game since 2016.

Broncos-Chargers and Week 12 Picks

The Broncos had a bye last week, and at 5-5 they are still in the hunt for a wild card spot in the AFC as they begin the home stretch of their season. You would think that coming off a bye at home that the Broncos would play well and have a really good chance of beating the Chargers. Unfortunately, the Broncos have not been consistent at all this season. This week they have to somehow find a way to stop Justin Herbert and the Chargers offense. I can't see Denver slowing Herbert down and I can't see them matching score for score with LA. Look for another disappointing outcome at home for the Broncos.

Prediction: Chargers (-3) over DENVER

Final Score: Chargers-41 Broncos-17

Last Week's Record: 6-8-1

Overall Record: : 79-76-9

(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)

Now, onto the picks for Week 12........

Tampa Bay (-2) over INDIANAPOLIS: The Colts are 5-5 after a big win over the Bills last week. The Bucs are 7-3 and in control of the NFC South. Big game for both teams, but I like the Bucs to win this won on the road.

Philadelphia (-4) over GIANTs: The Giants are 3-7 and fired Jason Garrett, their offensive coordinator this week, and they host the surging Eagles, who are 5-6. I see Philly continuing their winning ways and evening their record at 6-6.

Carolina (-1) over MIAMI: At 5-6, the Panthers are still in the mix for a wild card spot in the NFC. Cam Newton coming back has given them a boost. The Dolphins are 4-7 and have won three straight. I think the Panthers find a way to win this game and get to 6-6.

Pittsburgh (+5) over CINCINNATI: The Bengals are 6-4 after a big road win in Vegas last week. The Steelers are 5-4-1 after a tough loss to Chargers in LA. The Bengals won the first meeting in Pittsburgh earlier in the year, and I think they sweep the season series with a win at home this week.

Tennessee (+6) over NEW ENGLAND: The Patriots are 7-4 and winners of five straight. Now, everyone is back on the Patriots bandwagon, and everyone is back to kissing Bill Belichick and his rings. The Titans head to Foxboro with an 8-3 record, but lost a bad game to Houston last week. I think this will be close. I don't know if Tennessee wins, but I think it is close.

JACKSONVILLE (PICK) over Atlanta: I'll take the Jags at home in a game that isn't very watchable.

Jets (+3) over HOUSTON: I'll take the Jets on the road and the points in another unwatchable game.

GREEN BAY (-1) over Rams: I like the Packers to rebound from last week's loss to the Vikings, and I think they will respond here with a win at home over the Rams. Big game for both teams, who will be in the playoffs in the NFC.

Minnesota (+3) over SAN FRANCISCO: The Vikings have life again and at 5-5, they are right in the middle of the wild card picture. The Niners are now 5-5 and have revived their season as well. This is such a huge game for both teams. I like the Vikings ever so slightly.

BALTIMORE (-3) over Cleveland: The Browns are 6-5 but they barely beat the Lions last week. Baker Mayfield is beat up and

Seattle (-1) over WASHINGTON: The Seahawks are having a down year at 3-7, and this could be the end of their run. Washington is 4-6, so they are not out of it in the NFC. I think Seattle gets to 4-7 with a win on Monday Night Football.

Week 11 Picks

With the Broncos on a bye, here are the picks for Week 11...

Last Week's Record: 7-7-0

Overall Record: 73-68-8

(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)

New Orleans (+2) over PHILADELPHIA: The Saints head to Philly with a 5-4 record and are looking to get back on track after two straight losses. The Eagles come off a win over Denver to improve to 4-6. I'm still not sold on the Eagles, so I'll take the Saints to bounce back with a win here.

Miami (-3) over JETS: No one cares about this game.

CAROLINA (-3) over Washington: Cam Newton is on track to start and face off against his old coach, Ron Rivera. At 5-5, Carolina is in the mix in the NFC Wild Card race. Look for them to continue their winning ways at home over WFT.

Indianapolis (+7) over BUFFALO: At 5-5, the Colts are in the mix for the Wild Card in the AFC. The Bills are 6-3 and holding off the Pats in the AFC East. I think Buffalo wins but Indy keeps it close.

CLEVELAND (-10) over Detroit: The Browns will bounce back from their blowout loss to the Pats last week, and I think they will take care of business over the Lions at home.

San Francisco (-6) over JACKSONVILLE: The Niners improved to 4-5 with a big win over the Rams last week. They will get to 5-5 with a road win over the 2-7 Jaguars.

CHICAGO (+6) over Baltimore: The Bears desperately need a win at 3-6 to stay alive in the NFC playoff race. The Ravens are 6-3 and looking to bounce back after a bad loss to Miami last week. I think the Ravens pull it off, but it will be close.

TENNESSEE (-10) over Houston: The Titans are 8-2 and lead the entire AFC. They won't lose ground here with an easy win over Houston at home.

Green Bay (-2) over MINNESOTA: The Packers are 8-2 and head to Minnesota to take on the 4-5 Vikings. This is a huge game for Minnesota and I think it will come down to the end, but I think the Packers will pull it out late.

LAS VEGAS (+1) over Cincinnati: Two 5-4 teams face off in a huge AFC game. I think it is a little surprising that the Raiders are underdogs at home here. I think they will play a solid game and beat the Bengals in Vegas.

SEATTLE (+3) over Arizona: The Cardinals might get Kyler Murray back for this one but at 8-2, they are in solid ground to make the playoffs in the NFC. The Seahawks are 3-6, and are the more desperate team. I think Seattle will use that as motivation to get a much needed win.

KANSAS CITY (-2) over Dallas: The Chiefs are 6-4 and in first place in the AFC West. After struggling for most of the year, Pat Mahomes put on a show last week over the Raiders. Dallas comes in at 7-2, so this should be a marquee game of the day. Look for KC to be too much at home.

CHARGERS (-4) over Pittsburgh: At 5-4, the Chargers need this win to keep pace in the AFC. The Steelers are 5-3-1. This is a huge game on SNF. Look for the Chargers to get the win at home.

TAMPA BAY (-10) over Giants: Monday Night Football features Tom Brady and the Bucs hosting the 3-6 Giants. The Bucs are 6-3 after losing two straight. I can't see them losing three in a row, so I'll take them in a blowout win over the G-Men.

Broncos Get Beat Down by Eagles at Home, Fall to 5-5

The Broncos entered Sunday's game at home against the 3-6 Eagles flying high with a big road win over Dallas the week before and a 5-4 record. It looked like the perfect scenario for them to get to 6-4 heading into their bye week. Unfortunately, the Broncos did not show up and they paid the price with a 30-13 defeat at the hands of the Eagles. The loss is a big one as Denver falls to 5-5 heading into their bye week. It was definitely a missed opportunity and further questions where this team is actually headed this season. Here are my thoughts on the game...

1) Pat Shurmur tested positive for Covid on Friday so he didn't call the plays on Sunday. Instead, Mike Shula took over the play-calling. Whatever the case was, Shula didn't do a good job at all. It was not pretty on offense at all.

2) The Broncos injuries have piled up each week and being without three starting offensive linemen did not help their offense one bit.

3) The Broncos defense also got shredded in the run game and in the passing game by Philly. I didn't think Jalen Hurts would dice the Broncos defense up like he did. Just a disappointing performance all around.

4) Denver's redzone opportunities killed them in this game. They had a 22 yard field goal blocked, they had a touchdown called back, and they fumbled on a 4th and 1 late in the third quarter. All three plays were pivotal.

5) The play that got the most attention-and for good reason- was the fumble return by Darius Slay at the end of the 3rd quarter. After Melvin Gordon fumbled on a 4th and 1 play, Slay picked up and ran around and through the Broncos all the way for a 87 yard fumbled return to make it 27-13 Philly. The key moment on the play was Teddy Bridgewater didn't even attempt to tackle Slay as he raced passed him. Teddy did absolutely nothing which is just so bad on every level. It was the signature play of the game and could be the signature play for Bridgewater this year.

6) This is another bad home loss for the Broncos. It is their third home loss this year, and all three were by double digits. They have suffered eight double digit home losses in the Vic Fangio era. The Broncos are 4-9 in their last 13 home games, which is very disturbing to say the least. They are also 1-20 when trailing at halftime under Fangio. That all adds up to a team that looks like it is going nowhere and will have massive changes on the coaching staff after the season.

7) Just a disappointing day all around for the Broncos. Just when you got excited about them again this season, they give a performance like this and bring you right back down.

Broncos-Eagles and Week 10 Picks

The Broncos come into this game with Philly riding high after a big, upset win over the Cowboys in Dallas last week. At 5-4, the Broncos have a realistic shot at getting to 6-4 heading into their bye week. On paper, this looks like a very winnable game for the Broncos, and it is, but a few things worry me. First, Denver's injuries are continuing to pile up. They are probably going to be with only two out of five starters on their offensive line this week. Next, Pat Surtain is likely to miss the game due to a knee injury. I just don't know how much of a toll this injuries will continue to have and how much longer the Broncos can sustain them. I know Philly is 3-6, but I think this game will be close and tough for Denver throughout.

Prediction: Philly (+3) over DENVER

Final Score: Eagles-24 Broncos-23

Now, onto the picks for Week 10...

Last Week's Record: 7-7-0

Overall Record: 66-61-8

(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)

INDIANAPOLIS (-9) over Jacksonville: The Colts at 4-5 can get back to .500 and in the thick of the playoff race with a big home win over the Jaguars, and I think that will happen.

NEW ENGLAND (-2) over Cleveland: Two 5-4 teams going at it in Foxboro. I initially liked Cleveland, but I have shifted to the Pats. I think the Pats will find a way to frustrate Baker Mayfield and win a close game late.

Atlanta (+9) over DALLAS: The 6-2 Cowboys will rebound from their home loss to the Broncos last week, and I think they will win the game, but I like the Falcons to cover. Atlanta is 4-4 and in the mix for that last Wild Card spot in the NFC. I think this game goes back and forth for awhile.

Buffalo (-13) over JETS: The Bills lost a bad game at Jacksonville last week and at 5-3, they need to win to stay atop the AFC East. I like Buffalo to take care of business over the 2-6 Jets on the road.

New Orleans (+3) over TENNESSEE: The Titans blasted the Rams last week to get to 7-2. It will be interesting to see how this plays out the rest of the way without Derrick Henry. The Saints lost a close one at home to Atlanta to fall to 5--3. Big game for both teams, but I think it means more to the Saints. I like them to win outright.

Tampa Bay (-9) over WASHINGTON: Tampa Bay will roll into Washington off a bye week and take care of business over the WFT.

Detroit (+10) over PITTSBURGH: The Steelers had an emotional win over the Bears on Monday Night Football last week, and I think it will be tough for them to get up for the winless Lions. I think the Steelers will win but I think Detroit keeps it closer than people think.

CHARGERS (-2) over Minnesota: At 3-5, the Vikings desperately need a win. They head to LA to take on the Chargers and there will be a lot of Vikings fans there. This game will be close, but since I'm getting two instead of three, then I'll take the Chargers to win it late.

Carolina (+10) over ARIZONA: Former XFL star P.J. Walker will start this game for Carolina, who is now 4-5 after a 3-0 start. The Cardinals are 8-1 and the best team in the NFC. I think the Cardinals win, but look for a closer game as well.

Seattle (+4) over GREEN BAY: It looks like Aaron Rodgers will be back after missing last week's game against KC for testing positive for Covid. Seattle gets Russell Wilson back, so this game has some juice to it. At 7-2, the Packers need to keep pace for the #1 seed in the NFC, and the Seahawks are 3-5, and if they win this game, then they can start to make their run for a Wild Card with Wilson back. Tough one to call, but I'm going with Seattle and the upset.

LAS VEGAS (+3) over Kansas City: This is a huge game in the AFC West. The Raiders are 5-3 and coming off a bad loss to the Giants. The Chiefs are 5-4, but haven't looked great all season. The Raiders played the Chiefs very tough last season. I have a feeling the Raiders are going to find a way win this game at home on SNF.

SAN FRANCISCO (+3) over Rams: The Rams just signed Odell Beckham Jr. this week after he was released by Cleveland. I don't know how much of an impact he will have this week. The Rams are 7-2 and they need to move on from last week's debacle to the Titans. They to San Francisco, where the Niners are 3-5 so far this year and actually 0-4 at home. The Niners need this game more than the Rams, and I think they will find a way to pull off the upset on Monday Night Football.

Broncos Upset Cowboys, Improve to 5-4

I have to admit that I did not see this coming. The Broncos marched into Dallas on Sunday and absolutely dominated the 6-1 Cowboys en route to a 30-16 upset win. The win improved the Broncos record to 5-4, and it was maybe their biggest win in the Vic Fangio era. This was the kind of game that could turn the Broncos season around. Here are my thoughts on the game...

1) The Cowboys failed on two 4th and short conversions in the first quarter, and Denver never looked back after that. It changed the complexion of the game.

2) The Broncos built an early 13-0 lead with the help of Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams. The Broncos combined for almost 200 yards rushing and held the ball for over 40 minutes in time of possession. It was a dominating performance.

3) Teddy Bridgewater played great and his TD pass to Tim Patrick to make it 13-0 was a backbreaker for Dallas because Patrick beat Trevon Diggs on the deep ball. Diggs has been Dallas' best corner and the Broncos went after him.

4) The key play in the game was when Denver was up 16-0 in the 3rd quarter and Dallas blocked a punt in Denver territory. But, the ball went past the line of scrimmage, touched a Dallas player, and was recovered by Denver. This gave the Broncos possession of the ball and a first down. I have never seen that happen in all my years of watching football. It was a huge break for Denver.

5) The Broncos were up 30-0 in the 4th quarter in this game and it felt like it could have been 50-0. They completely dominated the game from the outset and this was the type of game they can play. Solid and stuffing defense, running the ball effectively, and Bridgewater making timely and big throws in the passing game. Everyone on offense and defense stepped up in this win.

6) It seems like the Broncos were tired of hearing about the Cowboys all week and tired of hearing about how the Von Miller trade was going to end their season. They played inspired from the beginning and you could tell they kept that energy up all game long-especially when they got an early lead.

7) This is one of the biggest wins for the Broncos in the Vic Fangio era, and they improved to 5-4 and right in the mix in the AFC Wild Card race. This is the first time Denver is over. 500 in November since 2016!. They get a chance to get to 6-4 with a home game against the Eagles next week.

Broncos-Cowboys and Week 9 Picks

The Broncos are 4-4 after a crappy win over Washington last week and now they head to Dallas to take on the 6-1 Cowboys. Dak Prescott returns to the lineup this week, and this game has the feel of a blowout by the Cowboys. Denver traded Von Miller earlier in the week, Bradley Chubb is still out, Bryce Callahan is out, and this Broncos defense hasn't played well against a good offense all year long. I can't see Denver slowing down this Cowboys attack with them at full speed. It will be an ugly game for the Broncos and I expect them to get smoked.

Prediction: DALLAS (-10) over Denver

Final Score: Cowboys-52 Broncos-20

Now, onto the picks for Week 9...

Last Week's Record: 8-7-0

Overall Record: 59-54-8

(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)

MIAMI (-6) over Houston: The Dolphins are 1-7 and so are the Texans. I think Miami will win their second game of the year at home, but both of these teams are in the dumps this year.

Minnesota (+6) over BALTIMORE: The Ravens are 5-2 and lead the AFC North. The Vikings are 3-4. I think everyone has the Ravens penciled in for the big win, but Minnesota will make this a tough game. The Ravens will win, but the Vikings will keep it close.

CAROLINA (+4) over New England: It looks like Sam Darnold is out with a shoulder injury so XFL star P.J. Walker will probably get the start. I think the Panthers will keep this close because they are looking at getting Christian McCaffrey back this week.

Buffalo (-13) over JACKSONVILLE: The Bills are 5-2 and rolling to the AFC East title. The Jaguars are 1-7 and trying to build something. Look for another easy Bills blowout win this week.

CINCINNATI (-2) over Cleveland: I think Cincy will rebound after their bad loss to the Jets last week. I think the Browns are 4-4, but could be in trouble because Baker Mayfield is basically playing with one shoulder and their offense is banged up.

Atlanta (+6) over NEW ORLEANS: Taysom Hill is back and takes over at QB for the Saints with Jameis Winston out for the season. At 5-2, I have been a little surprised by the Saints this year, but I think they could get tripped up in this one.  Atlanta is 3-4 and this is the type of game they win each year.

GIANTS (+3) over Las Vegas: The Raiders are dealing with another issue as WR Henry Ruggs was released this week after getting arrested for DUI and getting into an accident that killed a young woman. What a terrible and tragic situation. The Giants are 2-6 but played hard last week in the loss to KC. This is a game I could see going either way.

Chargers (-1) over PHILADELPHIA: I think the Chargers snap their two-game losing streak and get to 5-3 with a big, blowout win over the 3-5 Eagles in Philly on Sunday.

Green Bay (+9) over KANSAS CITY: How bout this game for storylines? Aaron Rodgers is out due to testing positive for Covid, and now we get to see what Jordan Love has to offer in place. I think the Chiefs will win but I have a feeling the Packers will somehow keep it close.

SAN FRANCISCO (+1) over Arizona: The Cardinals are banged up and I think the 49ers are desperate enough to win this game.

RAMS (-6) over Tennessee: No Derrick Henry for the Titans means no problem for the Rams. LA wins big at home.

Chicago (+6) over PITTSBURGH:  I think the Bears will keep this game close into the 4th quarter. I'm still not sold on the Steelers even though they have won three in a row

Denver Trades Von Miller to the Rams

On Monday, Denver traded Von Miller to the Rams for a 2022 2nd round pick and a 2022 3rd round pick. It was a bit of surprise that the Broncos traded Miller, but there was some speculation on Sunday that this could happen. It is definitely a sad day as a Broncos fan to see Miller go. I understand the business aspect of this, and I understand why George Paton did it, but it still hurts. Von Miller is the face of the Denver Broncos and all-time Bronco. He will be a Ring of Famer in Denver, and he will be a NFL Hall of Famer. He brought us Super Bowl 50, and he is a Mount Rushmore Bronco in my opinion. Denver felt like it was probably not going to sign him next offseason, so they shipped him off and got back two second day picks. They weren't going to get that-even in compensatory picks next year if he walked. It will hard to replace Von Miller on the field and in the locker room, and it is hard for me to explain to my kids why their favorite Bronco is now being traded. It might turn out to be a great move for Denver, but that is for another day to discuss. It hurts to see such an iconic player in Broncos history get traded away. Hopefully, it will be a win-win situation for both Von and the Broncos.

Broncos Defeat Washington. Get to 4-4

The Broncos defeated the Washington Football Team on Sunday in Denver to even their record at 4-4. The Broncos stopped a four game losing streak, and the 17-10 got the Broncos back on the winning track. Although a win is a win, this game was not very impressive for the Broncos. It took two late game stops by the defense to clinch it at the end. Here are my thoughts on the game....

1) The Broncos had a bunch of missed opportunities to put this game away but a penalty or mistake just didn't allow that to happen. I felt like every time the Broncos would be on the move a negative play would knock them back and they couldn't recover.

2) The offense still is struggling and they only put up 17 points on a defense that was playing the worst in the NFL in recent weeks. That is not a good sign going forward.

3) The Broncos defense stepped up and harassed the WFT offense all game long. They got key stops late in the 4th quarter to preserve the win.

4) The last sequence of plays by the Broncos was truly interesting to say the least. After Justin Simmons intercepted a pass near the goal line, the Broncos had the ball with only 37 seconds left. WFT had 3 timeouts, so Denver ran the ball on first down and Javonte Williams fumbled, but Dalton Risner recovered. On 2nd down, the Broncos called a rollout pass, and Teddy Bridgewater threw an incomplete pass instead of just sliding and forcing Washington to take a timeout. On 3rd down, Melvin Gordon ran right and fumbled and Washington recovered. The Broncos defense did hold and they closed out the game, but that was a rough sequence there in that spot. The one thing you can't do is fumble the ball and the Broncos did that twice in three plays.

5) The Broncos are 4-4 but it feels like they are 2-6. The offense struggled to score points once again, and there is just not a good vibe around this team. I can't remember a less satisfying win for the Broncos at this point in a season in a long, long time. Denver will definitely have their hands full when they head to Dallas to take on the Cowboys on Sunday.

Broncos-Washington and Week 8 Picks

There is not a lot of faith in this Broncos team. They have lost four straight games and their season feels like it is falling apart fast at 3-4. On the surface, this looks like a great week to get back on the winning track with Washington coming to town at 2-5, but it is hard to believe in this Broncos team until they show us. I can't trust them to get back on track, and I hate to be pessimistic, but with all the injuries piling up and this coaching staff not doing their part, I think the Broncos fall flat again for the fifth straight game.

Prediction: Washington (+3) over DENVER

Final Score: Washington-27 Broncos-20

Broncos Drop Thursday Nighter to Browns, Fall to 3-4

The Broncos lost their fourth in a row with disappointing 17-14 loss at the hands of the Cleveland Browns in Cleveland on Thursday Night Football. The Broncos were down 10-0 and 17-7 and rallied to cut it to 17-14 late in the 4th quarter, but the Browns killed the last five minutes of the game and put it away. After a promising 3-0 start, Denver is now 3-4, on a four game losing streak, and they look like a team headed for a downward spiral and another losing season. Here are my thoughts on the game......

1) The Browns came into the game without Baker Mayfield, Nick Chubb, and Kareem Hunt and still pounded the ball down the throat of the Broncos. RB D'Ernest Johnson had 146 yards on 22 carries. The Broncos defense got gashed up so badly in the run game. It was ugly. The Browns scored a TD on the opening drive of the game and never looked back. Case Keenum really didn't have to do too much on offense and it worked out fine.

2) The Broncos offense did absolutely nothing in the first half. They were down 10-0 and it felt like it was 30-0.

3) Vic Fangio's defense is really a disappointment. I get that the Broncos were without both ILBs but there is still plenty of talent on that defensive line, and this defense is just not playing well at all right now. To get run on that badly by a third string running back is just awful. I'm really surprised that this Broncos defense is so bad this season.

4) The Broncos offense did rally in the second half, but they are not going to win and play well when they are behind in games. That is not what Teddy Bridgewater is going to do for this team.

5) The Broncos are 3-4 once again after 7 games, and I just don't have any confidence that they can turn this season around. I don't have confidence in Fangio fixing this team and the defense, I don't have confidence in Pat Shurmur fixing the offense, and I think this team might have checked out. I'm usually optimistic and don't overreact, but these last four games have me thinking that this season is going down the tubes.

Week 7 Picks

Now, onto the picks for Week 7....

Last Week's Record: 7-6-1

Overall Record: 45-42-6

(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)

BALTIMORE (-6) over Cincinnati: The Ravens have won five in a row and are now 5-1 and sit atop the AFC North. They are rolling. The Bengals come in at a surprising 4-2. I think this is a good game but I'll take the Ravens to pull away.

GIANTS (+4) over Carolina: The Panthers are 3-3 after dropping three in a row. The Giants are 1-5 and off to another miserable start. For some reason, I see the Giants pulling the upset at home.

GREEN BAY (-7) over Washington: The Packers have won five in a row and are 5-1 and look like a contender once again. Washington is 2-4 and floundering. I have to think the Packers will take care of business at Lambeau this week.

TENNESSEE (+6) over Kansas City: This might be the best game of the day in early slot. The Titans are coming off a huge win over the Bills on MNF last week and at 4-2 are in first place in the AFC South. The Chiefs are 3-3, and they are looking to get to 4-3 with a big road win. I'm surprised the Titans are this big of a home underdog. I like Tennessee to cover the spread at least.

Atlanta (-2) over MIAMI: Atlanta is 2-3 and coming off a bye. The Dolphins are 1-5 and coming off a loss in London to the Jags. I think the Falcons will get this win on the road to get to 3-3.

NEW ENGLAND (-5) over Jets: At 2-4, the Patriots season isn't so bleak because they are getting good play from rookie QB Mac Jones. I was tempted to take the Jets, but I think the Pats will pull away late.

Detroit (+15) over RAMS: The Rams will win at home easily, but I think the Lions will cover. This is an interesting matchup at Jared Goff returns to LA to take on his old team. Things have certainly worked out for the Rams in that trade so far.

Philadelphia (+3) over LAS VEGAS: This is my upset of the week. Philly has been feisty the past two weeks in a win over Carolina and a loss to Tampa Bay. The Raiders are 4-2 and beat Denver last week after rallying around each other when Jon Gruden was let go. I think this is letdown game for the Raiders and the Eagles will take advantage.

Chicago (+13) over TAMPA BAY: I think the Bucs will win the game at home, but I think the Bears will cover the spread.

Houston (+18) over ARIZONA: The Texans will lose to fall to 1-6, and Arizona will go to 7-0, but look for the Texans to at least cover.

SAN FRANCISCO (-4) over Indianapolis: It looks like Jimmy G will be back for the 49ers, who are 2-3 and coming off a bye. Indy is 2-4 and this is an interesting game on SNF. I think the Niners get back on the winning track.

New Orleans (-3) over SEATTLE: The Seahawks almost beat the Steelers last week but fell in overtime. At 2-4, and without Russell Wilson, the Seahawks desperately need a win. The Saints are 3-2. I think the Saints will do just enough to win this game on Monday Night Football.

Broncos-Browns TNF Pick

The Browns are all banged up and they will be without Baker Mayfield, Nick Chubb, and Kareem Hunt tonight. Case Keenum gets the start in place of Mayfield, and even with all those injuries, I still think the Browns will beat the Broncos. I think the Broncos are a sinking ship right now, and Cleveland will hand them their fourth straight loss and knock Denver back to 3-4

Prediction: CLEVELAND (-2) over Denver

Final Score: Browns-27 Broncos-16

Broncos Get Buried by Raiders at Home, Fall to 3-3

The Broncos dropped their third straight game and are now 3-3 after getting buried at home to the Raiders 34-24 on Sunday. Even at 3-3, this season feels like it is starting to go the wrong way fast. It is one thing to lose to the Raiders, but to lose to them a few days after the Raiders had to fire Jon Gruden after troubling emails emerged. It was a really bad loss for the Broncos, and they need to figure it out quick or this season is going to be another disappointing one. Here are my thoughts on the game...

1) The Broncos defense got torched again for the third straight week. They couldn't stop the Raiders and Derek Carr and gave up big plays in the pass game once again. They also look like they quit down the stretch, which is very concerning.

2) Vic Fangio has to figure out how to get this defense going. This is supposed to be the strength of this team and now it is not playing up to par. They also lost LB Al Johnson to a season-ending injury in the game, so the injuries are starting to pile up on defense too.

3) The offense still isn't good enough and there is plenty of blame to go around. I blame Pat Shurmur for his play calling, Teddy Bridgewater is limited in certain areas-especially on third down, and their offensive line is not playing well. Throw in the injuries to the WR corps and this offense is not a productive unit. They really couldn't do much for most of the first part of the game on Sunday. It is not like the Raiders defense is that good and the Broncos couldn't exploit it at all.

4) This team right now looks like it is a bad team and the season is going downhill. There are some serious concerns on both sides of the ball. You can't let the Raiders come to Denver and beat you up after a week in which the Raiders lost their head coach. That was about as bad as a home loss as you can get.

5) The Broncos fans are tired of watching this team lose for 5 plus years and they are seeing this team fall apart again. At 3-3, the Broncos are in a must-win situation as they head to Cleveland on a short week for a Thursday night game against the Browns. They need to win this to turn this thing around.

Broncos-Raiders and Week 6 Picks

The Broncos have lost two straight games and this is a huge game on Sunday in Denver against the 3-2 Raiders. I really think this is a must-win for the Broncos. They have to avoid losing three straight games and with Cleveland looming on Thursday night, they need to get this win this week. The Raiders are dealing with all sorts of drama as head coach Jon Gruden resigned this week over controversial emails were uncovered. Even with all that going on, I still think the Raiders are dangerous and this game will be tough. I still can't trust the Broncos until they prove me wrong. Until then, I won't get my hopes up or buy in.

Prediction: Las Vegas (+3) over DENVER

Final Score: Raiders-24 Broncos-22

Now, onto the picks for Week 6....

Last Week's Record: 10-5-1

Overall Record: 38-36-5

(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)

Jacksonville (+4) over Miami (In London): London gets another crappy game this week as the 0-5 Jags take on the 1-4 Dolphins. I think the Jags somehow get their first win of the season.

INDIANAPOLIS (-7) over Houston: The Colts blew a big lead on MNF last week in the loss to the Ravens, but they will take care of business at home and get to 2-4 with a win over Houston.

CHICAGO (+5) over Green Bay: I think the Packers will win this game but at 5-1, they are due for a rough week. I think this might be the game in which that occurs.

Kansas City (-6) over WASHINGTON: At 2-3, the Chiefs need to buckle down and play a complete game. I think they will this week in DC with a blowout win.

CAROLINA (+2) over Minnesota: I'll take the home underdog here. The Panthers are 3-2 but have lost two straight. I think they right the ship at home over an unpredictable Vikings team.

Chargers (+3) over BALTIMORE: I think the Chargers are one of the legitimate in contenders in the AFC and this will be a test for them as they travel to Baltimore to take on the Ravens. This actually should be the SNF game this week but it wasn't flexed. I like the Chargers to pull it out on the road.

DETROIT (+4) over Cincinnati: The Lions are due for a win after losing a few heartbreakers to start the year. I think they get it this week over the Bengals.

Rams (-9) over GIANTS: The Giants are all banged up and here come the Rams into the Meadowlands. I think the Rams take care of business and bury the G-Men.

CLEVELAND (-3) over Arizona: The Browns host the 5-0 Cardinals, and I think this will be a back and forth game. I like the number at three and I think the Browns will win the game and cover.

Dallas (-4) over NEW ENGLAND: I'm tempted to take the Pats here but I really like how the Cowboys are rolling on offense. This should be a good game, but I'll take the Cowboys to pull it out.

Seattle (+5) over PITTSBURGH: Russell Wilson is out for at least a month with a finger injury, and that means that Geno Smith is now the starter. I think the Seahawks will rally around each other and play well. I don't know if they will win, but I think they will keep it close.

Buffalo (-4) over TENNESSEE: I think this will be a fun game on Monday Night Football. I think it will be close for a while, but look for Josh Allen and the Bills to pull away late.

Broncos Late Rally Falls Short at Pittsburgh, Fall to 3-2

The Broncos dug themselves a hug hole on Sunday in Pittsburgh, and they almost got out of it, but a late rally by Denver was not enough as the Broncos lost to the Steelers 27-19. The loss drops Denver to 3-2 on the season. Here are my thoughts on the game....

1) The Broncos played one of the worst three quarters of football in the Vic Fangio era. They were down 24-6 heading into the 4th quarter. They were out-coached and out-played for the first three quarters. It was a very embarrassing effort at times. Just ugly for a while.

2) Al Johnson dropped two surefire interceptions and each time that drives then resulted in a Steelers touchdown. They were killer.

3) The Broncos defense did not play well at all. This is supposed to be the strength of this team and they got cut up by Ben Roethlisberger, who had looked washed up so far this season. The Steelers offense was struggling this year, and the Broncos couldn't stop them. It was a bad performance all around by this defense on Sunday. At one point, they had Von Miller covering Chase Claypool in the slot. That is just bad football right there.

4) One of the key moments of the game was when the Broncos forced a field goal down 17-6 late in the 3rd quarter. Pittsburgh made the field goal to make it 20-6 and seemingly a two score game. Dre'Mont Jones was called for a penalty for using a Steeler lineman as leverage in attempt to block the kick. That gave Pitt a first down and of course they scored on that drive to make it 24-6. That was such a huge play i the game.

5) Give Teddy Bridgewater and the Broncos credit for making a comeback late in the 4th quarter. Bridgewater's 4th and goal pass was intercepted in the end zone with seconds left and that sealed the Steelers win. It shouldn't have taken that long for Denver's offense to get going in this game.

6) The Broncos now fall to 3-2 and are on a two-game losing streak. They have shown to be a team that does not look for real. They have to win this game on Sunday at home against the Raiders. This is a huge game and a must win-even though it is only Week 6.

Broncos Fall To Ravens in First Loss of Season

The Ravens came into Denver and defeated the Broncos on Sunday 23-7 to hand Denver their first loss of the season. The Broncos are not 3-1, and it was a disappointing outcome considering the Broncos had a lot of positive vibes coming into the game off a 3-0 start to the year. Here are my thoughts on the game....

1) The Broncos offense couldn't get anything going all day on the Ravens defense. Yes, injuries are starting to pile up, but outside of Teddy Bridgewater TD pass to Noah Fant that gave Denver a 7-0 lead early in the 2nd quarter, the Broncos did nothing on offense all day long.

2) The Ravens answered with 17 quick points in response to the Broncos touchdown and never looked back. They had the 17-7 lead at halftime and Denver just couldn't rally.

3) Teddy Bridgewater got knocked from the game with a concussion, and Drew Lock did not play well at all in relief. The Broncos need to get Bridgewater back as soon as possible.

4) There were too many open receivers and wide open plays that the Ravens made on Denver's defense. The Broncos contained Lamar Jackson running the ball, but he gashed them pretty good in the passing game.

5) The Broncos need to regroup and travel to Pittsburgh and get a win on the road over a desperate Steelers team to avoid a two game losing streak. The Broncos need to get this one and get to 4-1.

Broncos-Ravens and Week 4 Picks

The Broncos are 3-0 but face their first real big test of the season. The three teams they beat (Giants, Jags, Jets) are a combined 0-9. Into Denver comes the 2-1 Ravens. The Ravens are getting some starters on defense back from the Covid list so that should bolster their lineup. This is the first time the Broncos have ever faced Lamar Jackson. It will be a tough test to contain Jackson-especially as the game goes on. The Broncos are also very banged up. They are missing Jerry Jeudy (out another month), KJ Hamler (out for the season), and probably Graham Glasgow and Dalton Risner on offense this week. It seems like it will be too tall of an order for the Broncos to win this game-even at home. I think the Ravens will win this game and send Denver to 3-1

Prediction: Baltimore (+1) over DENVER

Final Score: Ravens-27 Broncos-17

Now, onto the picks for Week 4....

Last Week's Record: 7-8-1

Overall Record: 19-24-4

(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)

ATLANTA (+2) over Washington: At 1-2, the WFT is just not that good and their defense is overrated. The Falcons aren't good either but will get to 2-2 with a home win here.

Detroit (+4) over CHICAGO: The Bears have issues at QB and Justin Fields struggled mightily last week. The Lions have been close to winning this year-even though they are 0-3. I think they break through this week.

Tennessee (-7) over JETS: The Jets are bad and at 0-3 are off to a rough start. The Titans are 2-1 and will get to 3-1 rather easily this week.

Cleveland (-2) over MINNESOTA: The Vikings are 1-2 but could actually be 3-0. The Browns are 2-1 and I just think they are the better teams and will come away with the road win.

Indianapolis (+2) over MIAMI: The Dolphins are 1-2 after a crushing OT loss last week in Vegas. The Colts are 0-3, but I think they get over the hump and upset the Dolphins this week in Miami.

DALLAS (-4) over Carolina: The Panthers are 3-0 but have a big test coming up this week in Dallas. The Cowboys are 2-1 and the offense looks great. Look for a good game but I'll take Dallas to prevail at home.

NEW ORLEANS (-7) over Giants: The Giants are really bad. 0-3 again for another year. Now, they head to New Orleans to take on the Saints. I think the Saints will get to 3-1 with a huge home win over the GMen.

Kansas City (-6) over PHILADELPHIA: The Chiefs got beat at home last week to the Chargers and are now 1-2. They head to Philly to take on the 1-2 Eagles. I just can't see the Chiefs losing this game this week.

Houston (+17) over BUFFALO: The Bills will win but I think the Texans will cover the spread. Another ho-hum week for Buffalo.

RAMS (-4) over Arizona: Two 3-0 teams battling it out in the NFC West. I like the Rams at home to take care of business and get to 4-0. I like what I have seen from the Cards the first three weeks, but I think they fall to 3-1 here.

Seattle (+3) over SAN FRANCISCO: I think the Seahawks have their backs against the wall at 1-2, and I think they will find a way to get a key road win in SF this week. The Niners are 2-1 and coming off a tough loss at home to the Packers, but I think they will stumble here and Seattle will get the big win.

GREEN BAY (-6) over Pittsburgh: Big Ben looks shot and the Steelers offense hasn't been good to start the year. I think it is dangerous to underestimate them here though. I would expect the Steelers to play well in Lambeau and keep this game tight into the 4th quarter. I think Aaron Rodgers and the Packers will put up a late score to put the game away.

Tampa Bay (-6) over NEW ENGLAND: This is definitely a must watch on Sunday night. Tom Brady returns to Foxboro to take on the Patriots and Bill Belichick. This is a can't miss game. I think the Bucs will win the game, and I think Brady will play great. I can't see Brady and the Bucs playing poorly and losing-especially after last week's beatdown to the Rams.

CHARGERS (-3) over Las Vegas: This is huge game in the AFC West. The Raiders are 3-0 and the Chargers are 2-1 and coming off a road win in Kansas City. I give the slight edge to the Chargers and Justin Herbert in this one, but I think it is a close game regardless.

Broncos Shutout Jets, Get to 3-0

The Broncos are 3-0 after a 26-0 shutout win over the New York Jets on Sunday in the home opener in Denver. This is the first time the Broncos have started 3-0 since 2016. It feels good to be 3-0 but the schedule will now get tricky. Here are my thoughts on the game...

1) The Broncos defense dominated Zach Wilson all game long. They got 2 INTS, 5 sacks, and only gave up 162 total yards in the game.

2) The Broncos didn't have to do much offensively to win this game. Teddy Bridgewater was efficient enough and finished 19-25 for 235 yards and0 TD and 0 INT. The ground game did its' job, and Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon each had a touchdown run in the game.

3) It never felt like the Broncos were in trouble at all in this game. They led throughout, and it was smooth sailing once they got the lead.

4) It was great to see the home crowd back in Denver again. To see the fans back in all that orange was awesome. They need to keep that energy up next week.

5) The Broncos are starting to get crushed with injuries. KJ Hamler, Dalton Risner, and Graham Glasgow all left with injuries yesterday. Couple that with the long term injuries to Bradley Chubb and Jerry Jeudy, and the Broncos are losing too many valuable players. Let's hope the three guys hurt yesterday can come back soon.

6) Denver is 3-0 but all three teams they beat are winless. Now, the true test comes next week at home against Lamar Jackson and the 2-1 Ravens. We will see where this Broncos team is at at home next Sunday.

Broncos-Jets and Week 3 Picks

The Broncos are big favorites for the first time in a long time. They host the 0-2 Jets with a rookie QB, who came off a game in which he threw 4 INTs. Nothing is guaranteed in the NFL. No game is easy and there are no layups. A lot of people are going to pick the Broncos to win this game going away, but that is what makes me nervous. That scares the hell out of me. Until this team can consistently win and win big games, I'll stay away.

Prediction: Jets (+11) over DENVER

Final Score: Jets-23 Broncos-20

Now, onto the picks for Week 3......

Last Week's Record: 7-6-2

Overall Record: 12-16-3

(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)

JACKSONVILLE (+8) over Arizona: Arizona heads down to the heat and humidity of Jacksonville to take on the 0-2 Jags. At 2-0, the Cardinals have been a surprise team. I think the Cards get to 3-0 but I think the Jags keep it closer than expected.

TENNESSEE (-4) over Indianapolis: What a comeback by Tennessee last week in the win over Seattle on the road. At 1-1, they are home to take on the 0-2 Colts. The Colts are banged up and I think the Titans take care of business.

DETROIT (+10) over Baltimore: The Lions are 0-2 but were feisty at points in both games. Now, they host the Ravens, who are coming off a huge win over the Chiefs last Sunday night. The Ravens will win, but the Lions will put up a fight.

Washington (+9) over BUFFALO: The Bills are 1-1 after crushing Miami last week. Washington is 1-1 after a wild win over the Giants. I like the Bills to win the game, but look for WFT to cover.

NEW ENGLAND (-3) over New Orleans: The Pats are 1-1 after beating the Jets last week and the Saints got thumped by the Panthers and sit at 1-1. I Think the Saints will have a tough time in Foxboro and look for the Pats to win rather convincingly.

KANSAS CITY (-6) over Chargers: The Chiefs are 1-1 after that late loss to Ravens. The Chargers are 1-1 after a tough loss to the Cowboys. This will be a showcase game for Justin Herbert to see if he can out duel Pat Mahomes in Arrowhead. I like the Chiefs to pull away late.

CLEVELAND (-7) over Chicago: Justin Fields gets his first start of his career in place of injured Andy Dalton. Both teams come in at 1-1, but I think the Browns are just way better than the Bears at this point.

PITTSBURGH (-4) over Cincinnati: The Steelers got a rude awakening at the hands of the Raiders last week. Both teams are 1-1. Big Ben is a little banged up, but perhaps he can muster enough to take care of business at home against the Bengals.

Atlanta (+3) over GIANTS: This is a Loser Leaves Town Match as the 0-2 Falcons travel to the Meadowlands to take on the 0-2 Giants. I think the Falcons are the better team and will avoid the 0-3 start.

LAS VEGAS (-3) over Miami: Tua is out with broken ribs as they head to Las Vegas to take on the Raiders. The Raiders are 2-0, and they will roll past the Dolphins.

RAMS (+2) over Tampa Bay: This is a great late Sunday afternoon game. The Rams are home underdogs to the 2-0 Bucs. As great as the Bucs have looked, I like the Rams at home in this spot.

Seattle (-1) over MINNESOTA: The Vikings need a win to avoid an 0-3 start. The Seahawks are 1-1, but completely blew that game against the Titans last week. I like the Seahawks to get the huge road win.

SAN FRANCISCO (-3) over Green Bay: This is an interesting Sunday Night Football matchup. The Packers righted the ship with a blowout win over the Lions last week. SF took care of Philly on the road. The Niners come in at 2-0 and can really make a statement if they defeat the Packers in this spot. I'm taking the Niners.

DALLAS (-3) over Philadelphia: This is a good Monday Night Football game. Both teams are 1-1 but I think the Cowboys have been more impressive. I like them in this spot at home.

Broncos Take Care of Business over Jacksonville, Start Season 2-0

The Broncos defeated the Jaguars in Jacksonville on Sunday 23-13 and are 2-0 to start the 2021 season. Denver is 2-0 for the first time since 2018. It is a great start for the Broncos, and it was a game that many people thought they would win and they did. Here are my thoughts on the game....

1) After a slow start in which they gave up a TD on the first drive of the game, the defense really clamped down and played well. They intercepted Trevor Lawrence twice, sacked him once, pressured him a ton, and just didn't allow many big plays. The defense has done their job the first two games of the year.

2) Give credit to Teddy Bridgewater, who played another outstanding game. He finished 26-34 for 328 yards and 2 TDs and no INT. He pushed the ball down the field at times and consistently found the open receiver. You have to be happy as a Broncos fan with what you have seen out of Teddy.

3) Courtland Sutton had a big day and looked like he might be back to normal after last year's ACL injury. He had 9 receptions for 159 yards and made some big time catches down the field.

4) The Broncos special teams continue to be a disaster. They gave up am 102 yard kick return with 5:26 left in the game when they were up 23-7. It gave Jax life when it looked like the game was over. Thankfully, Denver's defense bailed them out with a big two-point conversion stop to keep it a two score game at 23-13. Denver's offense then put the game away for good with a solid time-consuming drive to finish off the game, but the special teams has to improve.

5) Von Miller had a sack and continues to look great out there. It is so nice to see him back playing at a high level again.

6) The injuries keep piling up for the Broncos. ILB Josey Jewell looks to be done for the season with a torn pectoral muscle. Bradley Chubb played but it looks like he reagrevated his ankle injury. These injuries that the Broncos keep getting every week are going to be an issue as the season goes on.

7) Great job by the Broncos in taking care of business and getting another road win to start the year. It feels great to be 2-0 and with the Jets coming up next week, that is another winnable game and a chance to get to 3-0. Plus, it is the Broncos home opener, so the fans will be back at Mile High and ready to go. Should be a fun scene on Sunday.

Broncos-Jaguars and Week 2 Picks

The Broncos are feeling good after starting 1-0 with a dominating win over the Giants on Sunday in Week 1. Now, they head to Jacksonville for another road game and they take on Urban Meyer, Trevor Lawrence and the 0-1 Jaguars, who got blown out by the Texans in Week 1. This is definitely winnable game for the Broncos, and they have the realistic possibility of starting 2-0. This is a game that Broncos fans circled as a "Win" on the schedule. I am worried about some of the injuries after Week 1. Jerry Jeudy is out 4-6 weeks with a high ankle sprain. Ronald Darby is out 3-4 weeks with a hamstring injury, and RG Graham Glasgow is out with an irregular heartbeat. I have to think the Jags will look better than their opening game loss last week. I don't know. This is a tricky one in my opinion.

Prediction: JACKSONVILLE (+6) over Denver

Final Score: Jaguars-24 Broncos-20

Now, onto the picks for Week 2......

Last Week's Record: 5-10-1

Overall Record: 5-10-1

(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)

PITTSBURGH (-5) over Las Vegas: Both teams are 1-0 after wins last week. The Raiders won in overtime over the Ravens, and the Steelers outlasted the Bills. I like the Steelers defense in this matchup, and the Raiders are always notoriously bad in early games back East.

CHICAGO (-3) over Cincinnati: How much longer are the Bears going to go with Andy Dalton over Justin Fields. I think the Bengals will have the lead in this game and Matt Nagy will turn it over to Fields, who will rally the Bears late to win the game.

Houston (+13) over CLEVELAND: The Browns will win the game, but I'm not ready to have them lay 13 points-even to the Texans. Houston can be feisty enough to keep it under the number.

LA Rams (-3) over INDIANAPOLIS: I love the Rams in this spot. Sean McVay will have them dialed in as they head to Indy for this early window game. I didn't like anything I saw out of the Colts last week in their loss to Seattle.

Buffalo (-5) over MIAMI: I feel like everyone is going to pick the Bills in this game-especially after they are 0-1 after losing last week to Pittsburgh. The Dolphins are 1-0 after beating the Patriots last week, but the Bills dismantled the Dolphins last year, so I'll take them to continue their winning ways over the Fish.

New England (-5) over NY JETS: Both teams are 0-1. The Pats lost a tough game to Miami at home, and the Jets lost on the road at Carolina. I don't see the Pats starting 0-2 at the hands of the Jets.

San Francisco (-3) over PHILADELPHIA: I know Philly looked awesome in their blowout win over the Falcons last week, but I'm not buying them yet. I think the 49ers, 1-0 after defeating the Lions last week, will take care of business in Philly this week.

Minnesota (+3) over ARIZONA: The Vikings lost to the Bengals in overtime last week and at 0-1, they need to win this game. The Cardinals came out and blew the doors off the Titans last week. I think Arizona continues their winning ways with a home win over the Vikes, but I can see Minnesota winning.

Atlanta (+12) over TAMPA BAY: The Falcons got blasted by the Eagles at home last week. Now, they head to Tampa to take on the 1-0 Bucs, who won a shootout over the Cowboys in Week 1. I think the Bucs will win, but I'm giving Atlanta a chance to cover.

Dallas (+3) over LA CHARGERS: Normally, the Cowboys would follow up their inspiring performance against the Bucs by shitting the bed the following week. Dallas needs a win to avoid an 0-2 start. The Chargers are 1-0 but benefitted by getting a late turnover to defeat Washington. I think Sofi Stadium will be packed with Cowboys fans, and I'm taking the Cowboys to win the game.

SEATTLE (-5) over Tennessee: I hated what I saw out of the Titans in their Week 1 loss to Arizona. On the flip side, I loved what I saw out of the Seahawks in their blowout win over the Colts. I think Seattle keeps the ball rolling here.

Kansas City (-3) over BALTIMORE: The Chiefs have owned the Ravens as of late, and I think it continues again this week on Sunday Night Football. I think the Ravens will have a tough time regrouping after a tough overtime loss in Vegas on Monday Night to the Raiders.

Detroit (+11) over GREEN BAY: I think the Packers will win the game but I was disappointed in how they looked in their blowout loss to the Saints in Week 1. I can see the Lions keeping it close and GB pulling it out late.

Broncos Dominate Giants in Week 1 Season Opening Win

The Broncos got off to a solid start to the 2021 season with a 27-13 road win over the Giants in Metlife Stadium on Sunday. It was the first September win for the Broncos since 2018 and it was the first win in September for Vic Fangio. The Broncos pretty much dominated the game throughout and got a great game from QB Teddy Bridgewater, and the Broncos defense snuffed out the Giants all day long. Here are my thoughts on the win....

1) Perfect start and perfect scenario for Denver in all facets. They won the game going away, Bridgewater played great, the coaching staff did a nice job, the defense played great, and outside of a fumble by Albert O and a drop by KJ Hamler, they didn't make many mistakes.

2) Give Vic Fangio credit for going for it three times on 4th down and converting all three. Those were each huge plays in the game and it was kind of surprising, but the Broncos converted all three and it almost kind of took the wind out of the sails for the Giants.

3) The end of the first half and beginning of the second half were huge. Denver scored two touchdowns on both of those possessions. The Giants were up 7-3 and just recovered a fumble deep in their own territory, but the Broncos defense forced the punt, and Bridgewater hit Tim Patrick on a short TD right before the half to make it 10-7. Denver got the ball to start the second half and went down the field and Bridgewater hit Albert O for a touchdown on a 4th and 1. The game went from 7-3 Giants to 17-7 Broncos in just two possessions

4) It was great to see Von Miller back and playing well.  Von had two sacks and was a dominating force all game long. He got pressure many times and overwhelmed Nate Solder on many snaps.

5) I love how Melvin Gordon took one 70 yards to make it 27-7 and put the game officially away in the 4th quarter. He had the same type of run last year when they beat the Jets in Metlife Stadium.

5) It was huge for the Broncos to get off to a good start. Starting 0-1 would have been a disaster. Now, they are 1-0 and have two straight winnable games at Jacksonville and home to the Jets to get to 3-0.

Broncos-Giants and NFL Week 1 Picks

The Broncos open the 2021 campaign with a road trip to Metlife Stadium in New Jersey. The Broncos have not won a September game under Vic Fangio, so there is a pressing need to get off to a good start. The Broncos can definitely win this game, but I just can't trust them right now until they prove me wrong. I'm hoping that they will get this win on the road, but I'm ready to pick them yet.

Prediction: NY GIANTS (+3) over Denver

Final Score- Giants-23 Broncos 20

Now, onto the picks for Week 1.....

(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)

ATLANTA (-3) over Philly: I like Atlanta more than most people do this year, and I think they get off a good start with a home win over the Eagles.

Pittsburgh (+7) over BUFFALO: For some reason, I think the Steelers will play well in this game. I think the Bills win, but I think it will be a close game.

Minnesota (-3) over CINCY: I think the Vikings will pounce on the Bengals early in this game and cruise to an easy opening win.

San Francisco (-6) over DETROIT: Two teams that look like they are on different paths this season. I like the 49ers to roll over the Lions.

TENNESSEE (-3) over Arizona: I think the Titans will take care of business at home this week and get off to a good start.

Seattle (-2) over INDY: I like the Seahawks in this spot over the Colts on the road.

WASHINGTON (+2) over LA Chargers: The WFT pulls the upset over the Chargers in Week 1. That might be the one real shocker of the day.

NY Jets (+5) over CAROLINA: The Sam Darnold Bowl in Carolina as Darnold faces his old team. I think the Jets will be feisty in this game keep it close until the end.

Jacksonville (-3) over HOUSTON: I think the Urban Meyer and Trevor Lawrence era gets off to a great start with a resounding win over the hapless Texans.

KANSAS CITY (-6) over Cleveland: This is probably the most premier matchup of the day. The Browns head to KC to take on the Chiefs. I know a lot of people are picking the Browns, but I like the Chiefs to run away with this one.

NEW ENGLAND (-3) over Miami: The Pats unveil rookie QB Mac Jones, and he takes on his old Alabama teammate Tua Tagovailoa. I think Bill Belichick will have the Pats ready to roll and look for them to cruise to a win over the Dolphins.

Green Bay (-3) over NEW ORLEANS: This game got moved to Jacksonville because of the Hurrican Ida. I think Green Bay will take advantage of the netural site and take care of business over the Saints.

LA RAMS (-7) over Chicago: I think the Bears will keep it close on Sunday Night Football for a little while, but the Rams will pull away at the end. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Bears turn to Justin Fields early in this game.

LAS VEGAS (+4) over Baltimore: The Raiders finally get to host fans in their new Vegas stadium on Monday Night Football. I think the Raiders will pull the upset and take down the Ravens.
