Your 2017 Denver Broncos

This was one of the wildest cut down days I can ever remember being a Broncos fan. There was a bold move (T.J. Ward), a fan favorite sent packing (Kyle Sloter), an interesting IR designation (Shane Ray), and a surprise return that no one could have predicted (BROCK!). I'll break down the big moves at the end, but here is the Broncos 53 Man roster........

-The cut of T.J. Ward was the surprise move. Although it was rumored for a few days, I was hoping that Ward wouldn't be let go, but he was. I think the Broncos will really miss Ward's leadership in the locker room. A lot of Bronco players took to social media to express their displeasure with this move. I wish the Broncos could have just kept him around for another year, and he becomes a free agent in 2018 anyway. I do not like this move at all.

-The Broncos actually were able to trade Ty Sambraillo to the Falcons for a fifth round pick in 2018. That was a major score for a guy who was going to be cut at some point.

-The Broncos release QB Kyle Sloter, who had a fantastic preseason, and he cleared waivers, but the Vikings gave Sloter a better deal than Denver, and Sloter became a member of Minnesota's practice squad on Sunday. It is a shame because I feel like the Broncos could have just kept him on the roster and made him the backup to Trevor Siemian while Paxton Lynch is out with the shoulder injury. Instead, the Broncos let Sloter go, couldn't get him back on the PS, and paved the way for the return of none other than BROCK OSWEILER,

-Forget about all the nonsense that goes into this signing. Here is why the Broncos did it: Trevor Siemian is the starter, Paxton Lynch hurt his shoulder in the third preseason game, and he is out until around Week 4. The Broncos didn't want to take a chance with Sloter as the backup, and Osweiler became available after being cut from the Browns on Friday. Brock knows McCoy and his system from 2012, so the Broncos felt that he would be a good fit if Siemian got hurt. It is crazy to think about it, and I am curious to see how the Broncos fans will react to Osweiler. In any event, it is crazy to think that Osweiler is back in Denver, making only the veteran minimum, and backing up Trevor Siemian in quite a role reversal from the prior years.
