Broncos Hire Vance Joseph as Head Coach

On Wednesday, the Broncos and John Elway announced that they have hired Vance Joseph to become the Broncos next head coach. Joseph interviewed with the Broncos on Tuesday and then came back to the Broncos facility on Wednesday and hammered out a deal. It was a not a surprise that Joseph was hired by the Broncos. He was on the short list of candidates early on, and a lot of experts felt that it was Joseph's job to lose. Although the Broncos interviewed Kansas City's Dave Toub and Atlanta's Kyle Shanahan, it was apparent that the Broncos zeroed in on Joseph and they agreed to a contract on Wednesday. There seems to be a lot of disappointment in Broncos Country on the selection of Joseph, and I personally was looking for someone like Shanahan or even Stanford's David Shaw to become the next head coach, but you have to be patient with the hire of Joseph and give him a chance to develop as a head coach in this league. The positives about Joseph is that he is very highly regarded as a leader, and that is very important as a head coach in the NFL. Also, he has worked with a lot of these coaches on the current Broncos staff and the continuity is something that the Broncos need on their staff. Also, I think he is young and energetic, and I think that is a good thing for this team. The negatives of the hire is that he is a first time head coach, and you worry about his inexperience being a factor on a team that just won a Super Bowl and has high expectations. The other thing I worry about is how he is going to handle the QB position for this team. Who is he going to hire to become his offensive coordinator and who is going to develop these young QBs? Those are questions that won't be answered right away, so let's get behind this hire and support Vance Joseph as the new Denver Broncos head coach. If John Elway believes that he is the right guy for the job, then I think us as Broncos fans should be optimistic and excited for the future. Go Broncos!
