Broncos Preseason Thoughts- Week 2

The Broncos lost at home to the 49ers 31-24 last Saturday night, but there is much more to discuss than the game and the outcome. The QB situation is still unsettled and here is my thoughts on that and some other thoughts on their second preseason game.

1) Trevor Siemian started the game, led the Broncos on a touchdown drive on the first drive, and then followed it up with a drive that ended in a punt and a pick-six. All of his throws were short and safe plays. He will do that for this offense, but when push comes to shove, he isn't talented enough to make the big-time throw or challenging throw on a key third down. Look, I understand the fascination with the Siemian story, but simply put he is just a guy. That is all he is. He will get the start for the third preseason game on Saturday against the Rams.

2) Mark Sanchez looked good at times and in control of the offense but two fumbles really hurt his play and his chances to start. That is the issue with Sanchez in his two preseason games. Those turnovers have mirrored his entire career. If Sanchez doesn't win the starting job, then there is a good chance he will get cut from the team entirely.

3) Paxton Lynch looked impressive against the third string guys once again. I still believe that Lynch should be get a chance to run with the starters in the third preseason game, and I think that there is still a chance that Lynch starts the season. Regardless, Lynch will be starting for this team at some point this year.

4) The starting defense once again forced a three and out, and they have looked good again this preseason.
